Michael has a Masters Degree in Piano Performance from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire where he studied under Nancy Baker.  He is currently teaching private piano lessons in Algoma, WI where he lives with his wife, Midge.  He was a member of the vocal quintet, Five By Design, which traveled the United States and Canada for over 25 years performing the music of the Great American Songbook in shows that Michael helped to create. More recently, Michael performed a piano duet concert with David Robertson at the Algoma (WI) Performing Arts Center as a part of their arts series. The concert was performed on a rare double-grand piano built by Peter Nehlsen and featured J.S. Bach’s Piano Concerto in D minor and the “Libertango” by Astor Piazzolla.

 

Michael has been working in collaboration with Terrence Niska to record and edit all of Mr. Niska’s solo piano works. They have known each other for over 40 years and have worked together in several different capacities from high school choir to touring together in Five By Design to the recent recording project. Michael has also created the videos for the individual works. It has been a wonderfully fulfilling collaboration and he plans on many more years to come.
