When I was writing this prelude I had the image of factories from the old Looney Tunes cartoons of the 70s in my head, but there is something slightly sinister and angry about these machines. There is a relentless drive created by the two-note figure that propels the listener toward the end of this diabolical assembly line…helpless to stop and unable to see what awaits.
